Bihar: In the Nalanda district, a tense situation arose during the Aarti of Lord Hanuman near Amber Chowk, resulting in a violent scuffle between police officers and Bajrang Dal activists. The incident left several people injured, with reports suggesting that as many as 12 individuals sustained injuries.
Bajrang Dal retailiates to police’s action
Eyewitnesses claim that the situation went out of control when the police resorted to lathi charge to control the crowd, and allegedly beat the Bajrang Dal activists. This action by the police is said to have triggered a strong reaction from the activists, who became furious and created a ruckus. The crowd at the temple is generally bigger on Tuesday and it was nothing new. However, the locals are disappointed by the way police approached the situation.
The Bajrang Dal activists retaliated by causing chaos in the area, forcing shopkeepers to shut down their shops, and creating a sense of panic. The situation quickly escalated, leading to a heavy deployment of police personnel in the area to maintain law and order.
The site of the clash between police officials and Bajrang Dal activists in Bihar’s Nalanda district was visited by senior police officials, including Sadar DSP Dr Shibli Nomani, in an attempt to calm the situation. However, as they attempted to intervene, a large group of Bajrang Dal workers arrived at Amber Chowk and began shouting slogans against the administration.

Police launches probe
The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Abhishek Palasia has stated that the suspects will be subject to investigation and subsequent action. According to a Bajrang Dal activist named Vicky, an aarti of Bajrang Bali is typically performed every Tuesday, and this was the only instance where the police resorted to lathi-charge to control the crowd.
