Based on an interview with former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, who said that Rahul Gandhi travels abroad and meets “undesirable businessmen,” the BJP stepped up its criticism on Rahul Gandhi, saying the Congress leader must clarify who the businessmen are he meets and the purpose.
This follows Rahul Gandhi’s tweet about Adani in which he mentioned the names of five former Congressmen, among them Ghulam Nabi Azad, and said that the BJP was using their names as a distract from Adani.
In response to the Adani tweet that brought his name into disrepute, Ghulam Nabi Azad informed a news outlet that it is shameful because he has never been associated with any businessmen, unlike the entire Gandhi family, which includes him.
“I have great respect for the family. I don’t want to speak anything against the family. Otherwise, I would have given examples of where he would go and meet undesirable businessmen even outside the country,” Ghulam Nabi Azad said.
“Whatever Rahul Gandhi has tweeted, it is a defamatory tweet. So once Prime Minister goes back from Assam we will respond to the tweet and definitely, there will be a defamation case in Guwahati,” Himanta Biswa said.
In the midst of this, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former chief minister of J&K, published his autobiography, “Azaad,” in which he referred to Congress as “bloopers and bombast.” He criticised Rahul Gandhi in multiple interviews and said that many other party officials, including him, left the organisation because of Rahul Gandhi.
