BJP’s Fresh Faces! Tariq Mansoor, Former AMU VC, Takes On Vice-President Role in Organizational Reshuffle

BJP: JP Nadda, the party’s president, continued the BJP‘s organisational reorganisation in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by changing the team of central office-bearers. There are nine general secretaries and 13 vice presidents on the new list. Bandi Sanjay, a former leader of the BJP in Telangana, and Radha Mohan Agrawal, a Rajya Sabha member, were appointed national general secretaries. Muslim Pasmanda MLC and former vice-chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University Tariq Mansoor was chosen to serve as BJP vice-president.

Anil Antony Joins, General Secretaries Changed, and New State Presidents Announced

Anil Antony, the son of renowned Congressman AK Antony, was appointed national secretary after switching parties to the BJP earlier this year. As general secretaries, the BJP has fired Assam MP Dilip Saikia and Karnataka politician CT Ravi. According to sources, both leaders may receive tickets to run in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Bihar-based Lok Sabha member and former Union minister Radha Mohan Singh has been removed as the party’s vice-president. A few weeks ago, the BJP named new state presidents in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Punjab, and Jharkhand. Now, there has been another overhaul. The new state president of Andhra Pradesh is Union Minister D. Purandeshwari. Daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder NT Rama Rao, Purandeswari joined the BJP in 2014. She took Somu Veerraju’s place.

Telangana’s Bandi Sanjay Replaced, New Heads for Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, and Jharkhand

Bandi Sanjay has been replaced as president of Telangana by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, who was appointed by Nadda. Additionally, Etela Rajendra, a former state minister, has been chosen to lead the BJP’s election management committee in Telangana. Telangana is slated to hold elections for its legislature later this year. Along with the Lok Sabha elections, Andhra Pradesh will hold elections the following year. Kiran Kumar Reddy, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, has also been elected to the party’s national executive. Sunil Jakhar, a former Congressman who joined the BJP, has been appointed the state’s Punjab chief. Babulal Marandi, a former chief minister, has been named the new president of Jharkhand. Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP-led NDA government hopes to win re-election for a third straight term, a flurry of appointments has been made.
