Bomb hoax at TCS Hyderabad prompts evacuation of 1500 employees from premises

Bomb hoax: Nearly 1500 employees at TCS office in Hyderabad’s Kondapur area were evacuated after officials received a bomb threat made by an unidentified caller on Friday morning.  sent officials into a panic, forcing them to quickly evacuate nearly 1500 employees from the company premises.

The security team at Tata Consultancy Services Kondapur campus received a call around 11 am. The caller, identified as a former employee of the company’s security wing, informed them of a bomb in the building.

It was a hoax

The company officials immediately alerted Madhapur police and began the evacuation process. Madhapur police swung into action and arrived at the company premises and began its search operation. The bomb disposal unit later confirmed the threat was a hoax.

Though the caller called again and claimed that the threat was a hoax, the bomb disposal unit screened the entire premises and found no evidence of a bomb.

“The caller has been identified and the motive behind the threat call is being ascertained. A case will be registered after the initial inquiry. We need to also verify if he has any psychological issues or is a disgruntled former employee who holds a grudge against management for removal from the job,” an official said.

Caller traced to Bengaluru

Officials claimed there was no panic and the police went ahead with the standard drill when informed about the threat call. As many as 1500 employees were present on campus at the time. The caller was traced to Bengaluru and efforts are on to nab him, the official said.

Around 1500 employees were present inside the building when the bomb threat was received.

Bomb hoax for Purushottam Express

Earlier, the Indian Railways received a hoax bomb threat for Purushottam Express at Dagmagpur station. The train was travelling from Puri to Delhi. The fake call created panic and the train was halted for hours and resumed its operation only after receiving clearance.

Sometime back, a similar incident was seen in two schools in Delhi. An unknown person informed about a bomb kept inside Delhi Public School, Mathura Road on April 26. This time, the hoax bomb threat was made via email. The matter turned out to be of fake bomb threat when Delhi Police reached the spot and followed its SOP. The threat call was made by a student “just for fun”.
