“Bombed 6 Muslim Countries”: Nirmala Sitharaman Takes On Barack Obama

Indian Economy

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman targeted former US President Barack Obama over his statement on the safety of India’s Muslims. She said on Sunday (June 25) that I was surprised by his comment. When PM Modi was visiting America, the former President of America was speaking about Indian Muslims.

Nirmala Sitharaman further said that this is the former President under whose rule six Muslim-majority countries were bombed more than 26,000 times. How will people believe his allegations. She said that I am speaking carefully, we want good friendship with America, but from there comments come on India’s religious tolerance.

“Muslim majority countries honored PM”

The Union Finance Minister said that the PM himself has said in America that his government works on the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and does not discriminate against any community. She said that out of 13 highest state awards given to him as the Prime Minister of the country, six have been given by those countries where Muslims are in majority.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday honored PM Modi with the ‘Order of the Nile’ award. This is the highest state honor in Egypt. In the last nine years, PM Modi received many international awards. This is the 13th highest state honor that various countries around the world have given to PM Modi.

What else did Nirmala Sitharaman say?

The Union Minister further said that very few people have got the opportunity to address a joint session in America and Prime Minister Modi was invited by both the parties in America. During this visit of the Prime Minister, many important agreements have been signed on the subject of defense production and employment. People from around 135 countries gathered in the lawns of the United Nations Headquarters to perform yoga with PM Modi during his US visit. It is great to know that Yoga is being popularized all over the world under the leadership of PM Modi.

She said that PM Modi’s visit to America has been historic. I am extremely happy to say that this was a journey where both India and the United States redefined their partnership. On Obama’s statement, the Union Minister said that I consider it a deliberate attempt to vitiate the atmosphere in this country as they feel that they cannot win against the developmental policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In fact, Barack Obama told the news channel CNN on Thursday (June 22) that if the US President meets Prime Minister Modi, he should mention the security of Muslim minorities in Hindu majority India. If I had a conversation with Prime Minister Modi, part of my argument would be that if you don’t protect the rights of the ethnic minorities in India, there is a possibility that India will at some point start to isolate.
