Halwa Ceremony Marks Culmination of Budget Preparation
The traditional ‘Halwa ceremony,’ a customary practice held before the ‘lock-in’ process of Budget preparation, took place in North Block on January 24. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad attended the ceremony, signifying the final stage of budget preparations.
During the Halwa ceremony, Sitharaman reviewed the preparations and conveyed her best wishes to the officials involved. She hinted that the Budget 2024-25 would focus on broader policy signals regarding fiscal consolidation rather than major announcements.
Anticipating Budget 2024-25
The forthcoming budget, presented through a digital medium, has heightened expectations regarding the policy signals that will influence fiscal strategies. The move towards a paperless presentation and digital accessibility underscores the government’s commitment to transparency and efficient communication of vital financial information.
