Cattle Smuggling Case: Senior TMC leader Anubrata Mondal was on Thursday arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a cattle smuggling case after failing to appear for questioning twice in three days.
The officials escorted by a huge contingent of central armed forces personnel this morning reached the Bolpur residence of the Trinamool Congress strongman.
Around 9.50 am, the team of CBI and central armed personnel reached Mondal’s residence. First the central armed forces cordoned the entire residential building from all points. Thereafter, the CBI officials got divided into two teams. One team entered the residence from the main front gate, while the other entered through the other gate at the back side of the building.

The arrest comes after Mr. Mondal, a prominent TMC leader skipped several summons by the agency, including two in the past one week.
On Thursday, a team of CBI officials along with several CRPF personnel arrived at the house of Mr. Mondal at Bolpur in Birbhum. They entered the house and picked up the TMC leader and drove off.
