In a revised set of guidelines, the Health Ministry Tuesday advised states to exempt fully vaccinated travellers from the mandatory requirements of furnishing a negative RT-PCR test report on entry.
The advisory comes even as some states continue to demand a negative RAT report irrespective of travellers’ vaccination status.
“Fully vaccinates asymptomatic people, having the final inoculation certificate with 15 days having lapsed since the second shot, could be exempted from the mandatory requirement of negative RT-PCR or RAT reports on entry into a state,” the Ministry said.
The Centre has not recommended any restrictions on inter-state travel in the context of Covid, the Ministry said in its guidelines. It added that the states were allowed to impose restrictions as per the covid situation in the state.
Meanwhile, according to a report by the Times of India, half of the country’s adult population eligible for covid vaccines has received at least one dose. A little more than 60 per cent of the over-60 population has also been covered at least a first dose of the vaccine, the report added.
An official statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) said that 61,10,43,573 vaccine doses have been administered so far. Nearly 68 lakh (67,87,305) vaccine doses were administered today on the 223rd day of the vaccination drive, as per the 7 pm provisional report.
