Maa Mahagauri Puja Vidhi
On the day of Maha Ashtami of Chaitra Navratri, devotees should wear white clothes while worshipping Goddess Mahagauri, the eighth power of Maa Durga. They should put a red flag on the roof of the house and offer sandalwood, roli, mauli, kumkum, akshat, and mogra flowers to Goddess Mahagauri.
Chanting the proven mantra of the Goddess, Shri Kleen Hree Vardayai Namah, is considered auspicious. Offering prasad of coconut, the favorite food of mother, and worshipping 9 girls and feeding them is also an important ritual. Even during the Sandhi period, devotees should continue to worship the mother.
Remedies of Maa Mahagauri
On the Mahashtami of Navratri, offering 5 dry fruits, batashe, and a coin to Maa Mahagauri or the family goddess in a red chunri is considered an important remedy. Lighting a ghee lamp and chanting Om Devi Mahagauryai Namah Mantra 108 times while praying to mother for good luck and good wishes for marriage is also a common practice. It is believed that the worship of Maha Ashtami reduces the troubles and issues going on in the family, and by providing food to girl children, the stores of money and grains remain full in the house.
The estrangement going on in married life ends, and obstacles related to marriage are removed. Students can offer a garland of cloves to the mother on this day and chant the mantra of Maa Durga, “Om Sharda Mata Ishwari, I remember you daily with folded hands and request you to give me knowledge.” It is believed that this practice increases concentration and intelligence.
Maa Mahagauri Mantra
The mantra of Maa Mahagauri is considered significant and powerful. Chanting “Shree Clean Hree Vardayai Namah” is considered auspicious. Devotees can also chant “Lalatam Karno Hum Beej Patu Mahagauri Maa Netram Ghraano. Kapot Chibuko Fat Patu Swaha Ma Sarvvadno” and “Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Maa Gauri Rupen Sansthita.
