Chandrayaan-3: On August 27, 2023, the Pragyan rover from Chandrayaan-3 came near a massive crater with a diameter of four metres. Three metres in front of Pragyan’s old location was this crater. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said in a mission update on August 28 that Pragyan is presently securely travelling on a new path after receiving a command to retrace its steps.
On August 23, nearly four hours after Chandrayaan-3 made a historic touchdown on the lunar south pole, the Pragyan rover rolled out of the Vikram lander. India became the first nation to softly land a spacecraft on the lunar south pole when Chandrayaan-3 did it on August 23 at 6:02 pm IST.
About Chandrayaan-3 mission:
The mission, which is estimated to have cost more than 600 crore, started more than a month ago. According to ISRO Chairman S. Somnath, India’s next spaceflight will be a human lunar mission.
The lander of Chandrayaan-3 landed on the 4.5-kilometer-wide location that had been selected for the landing on August 23 at 6:04 PM (IST). Within 300 metres (985 ft) of that location, the lander touched down. The rover Pragyan was moving and functioning “very well,” according to ISRO Chairman.
Chandrayan-3 Over the course of 14 days, the rover would conduct experiments, one of which would be a mineral examination of the lunar surface.
