Passengers are facing immense difficulties at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). There are long queues for security check and immigration. Passengers are worried about this. People have to stand in line for about 3-4 hours. Passengers are complaining about this on social media. He says that this problem is there for the last several days but till now it has not been resolved.
According to the news agency ANI, the parliamentary committee has recommended to the Ministry of Civil Aviation that Delhi and Mumbai airports should focus on reducing congestion. The Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture presented its report in Parliament on 13 March. In this report submitted to the Ministry of Aviation, the committee raised the issue of reducing congestion at the terminals.
Increase in the number of check-in counters
The committee said that the aviation ministry should focus on expansion of terminals. The Committee further stated that check-in counters and security check gates at the airport should be increased to facilitate smooth movement of passengers. The committee also noted that the lack of such capacity at major airports in the country reflects poor planning and urged the ministry to issue necessary directions to the airport operators concerned.
Last year also, passengers had complained about the crowd at IGI Airport. After this, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia did a surprise inspection of Terminal 3 of the airport. After this, he had a meeting with the stakeholders. Despite this, this problem still persists. A passenger named Mohit said that this problem has been there since long. I have given up hope. Politicians just want to get attention. At the same time, another passenger named Manas said that Delhi airport was described as the worst.
