Cheetahs from Nigeria: The Lumpy virus sickness has been connected by the Congress to cheetahs imported from “Nigeria.” In a major gaffe, Nana Patole, the leader of the Maharashtra Congress, assailed the government over the Lumpy virus sickness afflicting cattle, alleging that the ‘Nigerian cheetahs’ are the disease’s carriers to India.
According to Patole, the Cheetahs were also imported from Nigeria, where this lumpy virus has been present for a considerable amount of time. The federal government purposefully did this to cause losses for the farmers.

“Importing cheetahs won’t fix the country’s farming difficulties, or the problems with inflation and unemployment. However, cheetahs were brought in for hunting, which led to the spread of the Lumpy virus throughout the nation, he alleged. He demanded that the government pay the farmers Rs 700 for last year and Rs 1,000 for this year as a bonus.
The strange claims and sentiments infuriated the BJP, who labelled Patole “Maharashtra’s Rahul Gandhi” in a statement by Shehzad Poonawalla.
“Nana Patole, who is Maharashtra’s Rahul Gandhi, claims that Modi ji’s import of cheetahs caused the Lumpy Virus to arrive from Nigeria! Cheetahs originated in Namibia. Does he know that Namibia and Nigeria are two distinct countries? Such lies and rumours have always been spread by Congress,” he added.
Where is atta weighed in litres rather than kilos? Where is fake news commonplace? In a subtle reference to former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, he stated, “Congress is the biggest spreader of fake news and lies.

Bhupender Yadav, a Union minister, also criticised Patole: “Nigeria and Namibia are very different from one another. However, there is no distinction between Rahul Gandhi and Nana Patole in terms of their comprehension of important topics.”
Patole’s assertion that “cheetahs from Nigeria” were true was also fact-checked by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
