Political drama continues in Chhattisgarh’s Bhanupratappur bypoll. Jharkhand Police released BJP candidate Brahmanand Netam outside the police station hours after taking him into custody in a rape case. The lawyers who appeared on his behalf showed the copy of the Jharkhand High Court order to the police. The court has stayed the arrest of Brahmanand.
In fact, some time ago Jharkhand High Court, while giving relief, stayed the arrest of Netam till the next hearing. The court has also said that no coercive action should be taken against them. Meanwhile, voting was on for the Bhanupratappur bypoll. Jharkhand police took Netam into custody as soon as polling got over at 3 pm.
Bramhanand Netam had gone to Kilepal polling booth. From there the police took them to Kanker City Kotwali. During this, Brahmanand Netam informed him about the order of the court. After this, the police asked him for a court order. At the same time, BJP workers got angry after Netam was taken into custody. They came in front of the vehicle and shouted slogans against Bhupesh Sarkar.
The matter was heard in the court of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi of Jharkhand High Court. On behalf of Brahmanand Netam, High Court advocates Indrajit Sinha and Kumar Harsh argued that their client had no involvement in the case. His name is not even in the FIR. Still the police is troubling them.
Accused of raping a minor
There are serious allegations against BJP candidate and former MLA Bramhanand Netam. He is one of the accused in the case of raping a 15-year-old girl from Jamshedpur and forcing her into prostitution. This matter is of the year 2019. After Chhattisgarh Congress State President Mohan Markam raised this issue, Jharkhand Police has also reached Kanker to arrest Netam. During this, raiding was also done at various places.
