The government has introduced several new provisions for the children of martyred soldiers on the anniversary of Pulwama Attack. The Centre will fully reimburse martyred soldiers’ children’s tuition fee and will provide free them with free health scheme. In addition, reservations in CPSEs and banks will also be allotted for the children of martyred soldiers.
Reimbursement of martyred soldiers children fees
Minister of state (MoS) of defense Ajay Bhatt, in Rajya Sabha said the government will assures full reimbursement of the tuition fee of the child of a martyred soldier, excluding capitation fees and caution money levied by the educational institutions concerned. The government will also reimburse charges levied by the school transportation or actual fare paid for railway pass or bus certified by the head of institutes. Hostel charges for those studying in boarding schools will also be reimbursed by the government, he said. For the cost of books and stationary, the government will provide up to Rs 2,000 per annum. Also, for the cost of the uniform, the government will provide up to Rs 2,000.
Scholarship for eligible students
A total of 5,500 scholarships to eligible wards based on merit for the entire duration of the courses through the Prime Minister’s scholarship scheme will also be provided. Scholarships for boys stands at ₹2,500 per month, whereas girls will get up to ₹3,000 per month.
“Reservation of seats in medical or dental colleges for wards of defence personnel as government of India nominee. A total of 42 MBBS seats and three seats in BDS courses are allotted by the ministry of health & family welfare to KSB for wards of defence personnel as a government of Indian nominee. The priority is given to wards of personnel killed in action,” said Bhatt in his reply.
