Union defence minister Rajnath Singh will hold a meeting today with other officials to decide the fate of pending Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examination.
Last month in April, the education ministry had cancelled Class 10 board examination and delayed the Class 12 board examination amid rising cases of Covid-19 cases in the country. The situation will be reviewed on June 1, the Ministry had said, hoping for situation to get better. However, the end to the prevailing surge of coronavirus infection appears far sighted as the country continues to report over 4,000 deaths even as the daily infection tally has seen a dip in last week.
The meeting will see attendance by state education ministers and secretaries. According to the report of leading daily, the ministry may suggest states to conduct class 12 exams for major subjects only.
While a large section of students and parents have been demanding that the exams be cancelled amid the fear of coronavirus, the ministry may come with new options to be explored.
The exams for Class 12 are usually conducted in the month of February and March.
