Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury: Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Wednesday issued a clarification over his “pagal PM” remark for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said he was simply “echoing the sentiments of the public and was voicing what the public was reacting already over the withdrawal of Rs 2000 notes”.
The West Bengal Congress president got abusive while speaking on the issue of the Rs 2000 note. He said, “…he is not Modi but pagala Modi. People called him ‘pagala Modi’…”
Rs 2000 note withdrawal
Adhir Ranjan criticized the Central government’s decision to phase out ₹2,000 notes, expressing concern for the difficulties it poses to the public. These remarks by Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary have added fuel to the political fire.
He also took a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Delhi CM Arvind Kejariwal who met in Kolkata on Tuesday. Chowdhury said, “Now that people have gone against Modi, parties like AAP and TMC are trying to be relevant.”
‘Didi, Kejriwal want to destroy Congress’
The Congress leader was speaking to the media in his constituency Behrampore in Murshidabad district.
He said, “There is no need to conduct meetings in Kolkata for a “mahajot” against the BJP. Both Didi and Kejriwal share close relations, but if you notice, both the parties intend to prosper by destroying the Congress. Their only aim is to finish the Congress. They never want to fight against the BJP.”
