Congress: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress, claimed on Tuesday that the new Constitutions distributed to members on the first day of the new Parliament building lacked the phrases “secular” and “socialist” in the Preamble. “The Constitution with which we walked in the new Parliament building today, did not have the words secular and socialist in its preamble. If these two words are not present in the Constitution, then it is a worrying matter,” the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha said to news agency ANI.

Additionally, he claimed that the government changed this in a “clever” manner and that their motivations were “problematic”. Chowdhury claimed that he intended to bring up the matter in Parliament but was unable to do so. The Congressman was seen reading the Constitution’s Preamble in Parliament earlier on Tuesday. He did, however, read out the words “socialist” and “secular” while reading the Preamble, which is noteworthy.
