Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera levelled serious accusations against SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Khera claimed that Buch had concealed important details regarding a business that her husband, Dhaval Buch, owned.
Congress Alleges Financial Misconduct by SEBI Chairperson
Pawan Khera stated, “Over the past 8-10 days, we have been revealing the financial ties between SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch and various companies, highlighting significant conflicts of interest. Despite our efforts, neither SEBI nor the Prime Minister’s Office has responded to our concerns. ICICI Bank did address our allegations that Buch has received funds from them, but their response lacked substantial details.”
Allegations About Agora Advisory Private Limited
Khera further pointed out issues raised in the second part of the Hindenburg report. This report mentions Agora Advisory Private Limited, a company co-owned by Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband. Buch had previously claimed that the company became inactive as soon as she joined SEBI. However, records show she retained a 99% stake in Agora Advisory as of March 31, 2024. Khera accused her of deliberately misrepresenting the company’s status, calling it a case of willful concealment.
