Ghulam Nabi Azad: Ghulam Nabi Azad, a seasoned politician, stated on Wednesday that Rahul Gandhi was directly to blame for his decision to leave the Congress and that one needed to be “spineless” to stay in the venerable organisation. Azad reflected on the UPA II administration and claimed that Manmohan Singh, who was then the prime minister, should not have bowed down when Rahul smashed an Ordinance that the government had introduced to overturn a Supreme Court ruling that disqualified guilty MPs and MLAs. Azad, who was a minister at the time, criticised the UPA government for failing to move forward despite Rahul’s objections.
No one is untouchable in politics today-Azad
The seasoned leader was speaking following the publication of his book “Azaad” when he made it apparent that he would not run for office again. When asked if Rahul is the reason he isn’t a member of the Congress, Azad was cited by the PTI as responding, “Yes. Not me alone, but at least a few dozen more, both young and old leade. Once you are in Congress, you are spineless, you have to get operated.” In addition, Azad stated that no one is “untouchable” in politics today and did not rule out the prospect of working with the BJP after the Jammu and Kashmir elections. Regarding Rahul’s removal from the House of Representatives, Azad claimed that he would not have been removed today if the Congressman had not destroyed the Ordinance introduced by the UPA government in 2013.
Congress party made a mistake by remaining silent- Azad
“We introduced the Ordinance because we were aware that we needed to be ready for the possibility that other parties may obtain power and utilise it against us. It was a weak cabinet, and it ought to have gone ahead and introduced the law, continuing to stand by that choice even after Rahul Gandhi scorned it and tore it up, Azad added. “The Congress party made a mistake by remaining silent at the time… That alone would have prevented Rahul Gandhi from losing today. It is currently being used against the person who tore it. He ought to have realised it at that time. “Khud kiye aapne deewaron mein suraakh, ab koin jhaank rahe hain to shor kyon” (Why to Raise voice now when you made holes in your own wall, others can see through them).

Pawan Khera criticised Azad in a press conference
Azad, who spent 50 years working with the Congress, also made fun of some of the organisation’s top officials, stating, “I am 2,000% more Congressi than those who manage (politics) on Twitter. They are not even 18 carats, whereas I am 24-carat Congress by conviction. Congressmen Anand Sharma and Janardhan Dwivedi attended the occasion. Many MPs from the opposition and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia were also there. In the meantime, the Congress attacked Azad. Congress’ media director Pawan Khera criticised Azad in a press conference at the AICC headquarters, accusing him of upholding an ideology that he had fought for 50 years. “Now it is ridiculous when he sings psalms before the monarch. The person who our colleagues believed to be God has proven to not even be a clay idol, he remarked.
