“Such a passionate statement from the Prime Minister is highly disruptive which would be a wrong example for the people who acquire prominent positions in this country either now or in the future,” he added. Tagore’s correspondence with Birla emphasizes that the Prime Minister’s violation of parliamentary privilege can be identified according to Rule 222 in Chapter 20 of the Lok Sabha’s Rules of Procedure. In addition, the MP from Vidhurnagar criticized PM Modi for exhibiting a “mischievous” demeanor when making these allegations, which Tagore deemed to be “untrue.” Tagore urged that necessary measures be taken to refer the matter to the Privilege Committee and present a motion of breach of privilege in Lok Sabha, as stated in his letter. On May 6, the Congress party’s Twitter account shared a post attributed to Gandhi, which read, “The Congress will not permit anyone to endanger the reputation, sovereignty or unity of Karnataka.” The tweet was subsequently removed. During his criticism of the Congress, PM Modi claimed that Karnataka does not have sovereignty and that those who advocate for it are promoting secession.
