Cop, wife shot dead at home by suspected terrorists in J&K

A police officer and his wife were killed and daughter injured after suspected terrorists opened fire at them in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district late on Sunday, police said.

The terrorists barged into the house of SPO Fayaz Ahmad and fired indiscriminately at him. His wife and daughter received critical gunshot injuries in the firing.

All three were rushed to the hospital where Fayaz Ahmad and his wife succumbed to their injuries. Their daughter is critically injured and has been shifted to a hospital in Srinagar.

As per the latest updates, the daughter of the SPO has also succumbed to bullet injuries. Slain cop’s son is a jawan in Territorial Army. Two years ago, Ahmed was threatened to resign, but he never did.

The area has been cordoned off and the police is searching for the assailants.

Earlier this month, militants killed two off-duty policemen in Srinagar in two separate attacks, including an inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department.

“I strongly condemn brutal terrorist attack on SPO Ahmad and his family at Awantipora. This is an act of cowardice and perpetrators of violence will be brought to justice very soon,” Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said.
