New Delhi: India has reported 40,134 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours which is 4 percent lower than yesterday. 422 deaths has been reported in a day. 4.24 lakh of the total population has lost life due to covid while the total caseload stands at 3.16 crore.
The test positivity rate of the country- number of positive cases identified per 100 – stands at 2.81 per cent, much below the worrying mark of 5 per cent.
Andaman and Nicobar Island reported only two new covid cases in the last 24 hours. The union territory has only 7 active cases while the other two districts North and Middle ndaman and Nicobar are now free of virus, informed the officials.
Whereas, Maharashtra’s Thane reported 290 new covid case in the last 24 hours the total case.
The district has reached 5,45,051 cases on Sunday.
The death toll in the district is 11,039 and the COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane stood at 2.02 percent, informed an official.
According to a mathematical model by researchers, who accurately predicted the tapering of a brutal surge of cases earlier this year, India is likely to experience a rise in Covid-19 cases. The virus wave may peak in October.
