Lalu Yadav: A government investigation agency on Monday seized Lalu Yadav and his family’s assets worth 6 crore in connection with an alleged case of corruption. Investigated in the so-called Bihar land-for-jobs fraud are Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, and some of their offspring, including Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar. The Enforcement Directorate, the primary organisation that looks into financial offences, seized the assets.
Allegations of Land-for-Jobs Scheme During Lalu Yadav’s Tenure as Union Railway Minister
When Yadav served as the Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, he and his family are accused of purchasing land for extremely low prices in exchange for employment. Earlier, in October of last year, the CBI, which is also looking into the issue, filed the first charge sheet. The second charge sheet in the case, but the first in which Tejashwi Yadav is listed as a defendant, was submitted by the central agency on July 3.
