In a major development, India recorded just over 60,000 cases of coronavirus as Covid caseload continued to fall with. In the last 24-hour, the country reported 60,461 new cases, lowest since March 2, In the same time, 2,726 fatalities were reported due to the virus, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Tuesday. India had recorded 70,421 cases on June 14.
With the new addition, India’s overall covid tally stands at 2,95,70,871 and 3,77,031 deaths. Meanwhile, the active cases have come down below 10 lakh. The country has 9,13,378 active cases presently.
A total of 1,17,525 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,82,80,472 till date, the health ministry said.
India started its vaccination programme against covid-19 on January 16. A total of 25,90,44,072 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 39,27,154 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 38,13,75,984 samples have been tested up to June 14 for Covid-19. Of these 17,51,358 samples were tested on Monday.
Meanwhile, the overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 176 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.80 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
