India has logged in 9,195 new Covid cases, 44% higher than yesterday, while the active cases have rose to 77,002, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Wednesday. With 302 fatalities, the active cases rose to 4,80,592.
The active cases comprise 0.22 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 98.40 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the health ministry said.
The Union Government on Wednesday said that over 16.67 crore balance and unutilized COVID vaccine doses are still available with the States and Union Territories (UTs).
According to a press release by the Union Health Ministry, “More than 16.67 crore (16,67,25,556) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.” The ministry further informed that more than 149.16 crore (1,49,16,36,985) vaccine doses have been provided to States and UTs so far through the Government of India (free of cost channel) and through the direct state procurement category.
Meanwhile, the global coronavirus caseload has topped 282.7 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 5.41 million and vaccinations to over 9.02 billion, according to Johns Hopkins University.
