India logged in 1,32,788 new coronavirus infections in the preceding 24-hour, pushing the country’s cumulative tally to 2,83,07,832, while the daily positivity rate has further dropped to 6.57 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday. In the same time, the country also recorded 3,207 fresh deaths, taking the overall fatality toll to 3,35,102. The active cases were recorded below 20 lakh for the second consecutive day, the Ministry of health and family welfare said.
A total of 20,19,773 tests were conducted on Tuesday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 35,00,57,330, said Indian Council of Medical Research.
According to the Health Ministry, a total of 2,31,456 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,61,79,085 in Covid cases till date.
The Health Ministry said that a total of 21,85,46,667 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 23,97,191 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
