India has logged in 46,617 new Covid-19 cases and 853 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. With today’s toll, the total number of fatalities in the country crossed the 4 lakh mark on Friday. India is the only country after the US and Brazil to report over 4 lakh deaths due to the pandemic. India also recorded 59,384 recoveries during the same period. At present, there are 5,09, 637 active cases and as many as 2.95 crore people have recovered.
Total infections in the country have reached 3,04,58,251 with the latest addition. Kerala continues to be the only state reporting more than 10,000 cases a day, with the state reported 12,868 cases. Also, Maharashtra accounts for the highest number of deaths due to Covid-19 at 1.25 lakh.
A total of 59,384 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,95,48,302 till date, the Union Health Ministry said.
The Health Ministry said that a total of 34,00,76,232 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 42,64,123 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 41,42,51,520 samples have been tested up to July 1 for Covid-19. Of these 18,80,026 samples were tested on Thursday.
According to the Johns Hopkins University, the overall global Covid-19 caseload has topped 182.5 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 3.95 million.
