Pakistan: In a shocking turn of events, Anju, an Indian woman who had legally entered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, converted to Islam and wed Nasrullah, a Pakistani man, according to Pakistani media. She changed her name to Fatima after becoming a Muslim. The article added that the couple’s union was formally constituted at a nikah ceremony held at the Upper Dir district courts. Anju and Nasrullah’s Tour and Nikkah in Pakistan
In the video, Anju and Nasrullah can be seen holding hands while touring the area’s picturesque mountainous areas. The nikkah of Anju (35) and Nasrullah (29) was certified by Malakand Division Deputy Inspector General Nasir Mehmood Satti, who also said that the woman adopted the name Fatima after converting to Islam. The woman was taken by police from court to her new in-law’s house for security reasons. Anju, now known as Fatima, had earlier stated that she had no intention of wed Nasrullah and will return to India on August 20 when her visa ends.
Anju’s Visit to Pakistan Sparks Controversy and Denials
Even Nasrullah denied rumours that they were having an affair, telling the news agency PTI on Monday that he had no intention of wed Anju. In 2019, Nasrulla and Anju made friends on Facebook. “Anju is on a visit to Pakistan and we have no plan to marry,” Nasrulla told PTI over the phone from village Kulsho in the district, some 300 km from Peshawar. “She will go back to her country on August 20 after her visa expires. Anju is living in a separate room of his home with the other female members of my family,” he had said. With a current Pakistani visa, Anju has travelled to the Upper Dir district of Pakistan’s tribal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to meet Nasrulla. Notably, Anju was married while she was still in India. Arvind, Anju’s husband, who is currently in Rajasthan, hoped that his wife would soon return. They have a boy who is six years old and a daughter who is fifteen. Anju’s father previously stated that she is “mentally disturbed and eccentric” but has never had a relationship. She should not have gone to Pakistan without telling anyone, he added.
