DA Hike: Central government employees are set to enjoy festive seasons with increased happiness, as the cabinet is expected to grant approval for a 4 per cent raise in the dearness allowance. The existing dearness allowance stands at 42 percent, and if the proposed 4 percent hike is sanctioned, central employees will receive a total dearness allowance of 46 percent starting from July 1, 2023. The date for the passing of the order is likely to be 25th October.
DA Hike likely on the following date
Traditionally, the dearness allowance sees an uptick before the festive season of Dussehra in October. However, there’s speculation that this year, the dearness allowance might experience an increase shortly after Dussehra. Unofficial sources suggest that it could potentially be approved by the cabinet on October 25, although the government has yet to officially announce a specific date for this adjustment. This information has been shared by insiders at Zee Business.
The disbursement of DA-DR (Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief) payments to central employees and pensioners who receive salaries under the 7th Pay Commission is scheduled to be completed by the end of October. These allowances will be incorporated into the employees’ salary calculations, and the payments will also include arrears for the previous three months.
Additionally, pensioners will receive an extra 4 percent added to their pension, and this increment will also be processed and distributed by the end of October. Arrears for the disparity in dearness allowance for July, August, and September will also be disbursed. Notably, the government had previously raised the dearness allowance in March 2023.
Beneficial for Central govt employees
The existing dearness allowance rate stands at 42%, and this adjustment will bring benefits to over 1 crore employees and pensioners. However, it’s important to note that these benefits will apply exclusively to individuals working under the central government and falling within the salary structure defined by the 7th Pay Commission.
