There was a drastic decline in air pollution levels in the national capital on Saturday thanks to rains and gusty winds on Friday. The air quality improved significantly on Saturday morning and turned to moderate category wiith AQI touching 132, according to the latest estimates updated by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
According to SAFAR estimates updated at 6.30am, several areas in the national capital including Delhi University, Pusa, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, IIT-Delhi and Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal 3) recorded air quality in the ‘very poor’ category with an AQI of 335, 320, 319, 327, 309 and 325 respectively.
As per the government data, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.
