G20 Summit: Delhi is wrapping up the G20 summit preparations. There are strict security measures in place. The Delhi Police has issued directives for the movement of the Delhi Metro in this regard. According to this directive, some Delhi Metro stations would have a complete closure of traffic from September 8 through September 10. In addition, public and private offices, academic institutions, banks, and financial organisations are likely to be closed in order to maintain the security of the G20 meeting in Delhi.
Metro Stations Affected by G20 Security Measures in Delhi
According to a police directive, traffic at some metro stations may shut down during the summit for the VIP movement: Moti Bagh, Bikaji Cama Place, Munirka, RK Puram, IIT, and Sadar Bazar Cantonment. Passengers cannot enter the metro station from here or leave it from here. In this case, a passenger would need to disembark at a different stop if he wanted to travel past these stations. In addition to this, the police has included the metro stations at Dhaulakuan, Khan Market, Janpath, Supreme Court, and Bhikaji Cama Place on its list of critical locations. Additionally, the closest metro stop to the location, Supreme Court Metro stop, will continue to be entirely closed. Additionally, travellers heading to the airport have been encouraged to take the metro from the evening of September 7 through the evening of September 11.
G20 Summit’s Impact on Delhi; What you must know
In light of the security of the G20 Summit in Delhi, it has been ordered that all public and private offices, academic institutions, banks and financial institutions, markets in the NDMC region, such as Connaught Place and Khan Market, and liquor stores (New Delhi Police District area), likely to remain closed. At the same time, critical services like milk and medication stores, Delhi Metro stations (apart from the Supreme Court), and Ring Road bus service (outside the NDMC region) would continue to operate. On September 9 and 10, the nation’s capital will host the G20 meeting. Among the G20 leaders who have already confirmed their attendance at the summit are US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
