The capital Delhi has been in the grip of heat wave for the last several days. Due to the scorching sun and heat wave, the temperature has crossed 43 degree Celsius in many areas of Delhi. At the same time, according to the data that came late on Friday night, the maximum temperature in Safdarjung of Delhi also reached 41.6 degree Celsius, seven degrees Celsius above normal, which has broken the record of the last 12 years.
Because of this, Friday has been the hottest day not only of the season but also in the first fortnight of April in the last 12 years. According to information received from RK Jenamani, Senior Scientist of the Meteorological Department, the heat wave will last for three days and the temperature is likely to rise to 42 degree Celsius on Saturday.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Delhi’s Safdarjung was recorded at 41.6 degrees yesterday, which is the highest in the last 12 years. Earlier in the year 2010, on 12 and 13 April, the temperature had increased so much. On Friday, Delhi recorded a minimum of 19.7 degree Celsius, which is normal. Apart from this, the hottest place in Delhi was Sports Complex, Pitampura and Najafgarh. The maximum temperature in Sports Complex was 43.9 degree Celsius, Pitampura 43.4 degree Celsius and Najafgarh 43.3 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.5 degree Celsius in Pitampura and 25.7 percent in Sports Complex.
Meteorological Department expert RK Jenamani said that in the first fortnight of April till the year 2011, there was never such a heat. The reason for this is that in the last 45 days, there has not been a single day of rain in Delhi. However, the average maximum temperature in the second fortnight of April was 43.2 °C on 21 April 2017.
Last year on April 29, the maximum temperature was 42.2 degree Celsius. He said that the heat wave will continue till Monday. After this, on April 12, due to cloud cover in the sky, the temperature can drop by two to three degrees Celsius. Because of this, there can be some relief from the heat.
