Delhi Car Dragged: Anjali Singh of Delhi was not alone when her scooter met with an accident, according to sources. Anjali Singh’s death after being pulled by a car for 13 kilometres has once again raised concerns about the safety of women in the national capital.
A new twist to the story that shook the nation
Investigators have discovered a fresh wrinkle in the capital shocker that happened in the wee hours of this New Year: 20-year-old Anjali was with her companion Nidhi when a Maruti Baleno automobile struck her scooter. According to authorities, the friend fled the scene after suffering only minor injuries in the collision. Investigators claimed that Anjali was dragged behind the car because her leg became hooked in the axle.
According to police sources, the woman has been located, and as part of the investigation, her statement will be recorded.
When police were creating a route map to gain additional insight into what happened that night, the fresh discoveries came to light. They discovered that the two companions attended a New Year’s party before checking out of a hotel around 1.45 am. The two women may be seen on CCTV leaving the hotel not too far from the scene of the collision. They may be seen mounting the two-wheeler and departing. Here, Nidhi is the driver, and Anjali is seated in the passenger seat. Apparently, Anjali eventually declared her wish to drive, and the two switched places.
Accused accepted that they were drunk
The incident happened in west Delhi near Sultanpuri. The five male occupants of the automobile have all acknowledged to drinking before the collision. The accused have reportedly informed authorities that they fled in a panic, not realising that Anjali had been taken along.
While driving away, Deepak Khanna, the driver, claimed to police that he felt “something was trapped,” but other passengers disregarded him.
According to reports, the car dragged the 20-year-old woman around the streets for almost 13 kilometres. One of the accused Mithun noticed a hand under the car as it was doing a U-turn at Kanjhawala. The body detached once the car had come to a stop. According to the witnesses, the accused then left the area.

The woman’s body is glued to the car as it makes a U-turn in one of the films, which is now going viral.
A witness said that when he saw the body being dragged, he yelled, but the automobile did not stop. He then called the police and rode his two-wheeler after the car. When the accused had left the site and the body had come off, police finally arrived.
According to the inquiry, the first call to the police control room came from an eyewitness and was made roughly two hours after Anjali checked out of the hotel. The body was discovered about 4.10 am, and the wrecked scooter was located 30 minutes later.
The preliminary autopsy report on the woman is anticipated this afternoon, and all five suspects have been detained. The suspects have been charged with reckless driving, culpable homicide, and causing death by negligence.
Police said they have not uncovered any proof of the woman’s alleged sexual assault, despite the woman’s family’s claims to the contrary.
