By-Elections Result
The results of the by-elections for seven assembly seats in six states were announced on Friday, with the BJP securing three seats, while its opponents, including Congress, JMM, Trinamool Congress (TMC), and Samajwadi Party (SP), each won one seat. The opposition alliance secured victories in the Ghosi Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh, where it supported the Samajwadi Party, and in Jharkhand, where the JMM successfully retained the Dumri assembly seat.
The BJP retained its control over the Bageshwar Assembly seat in Uttarakhand and Dhanpur in Tripura. Additionally, the BJP secured victory in the Boxanagar assembly seat, previously held by the CPI(M), in the northeastern state where the INDIA alliance parties had formed an alliance. However, the BJP lost the Dhupguri Assembly seat in West Bengal to the TMC.
Notably, AAP is a member of the INDIA bloc, which is currently in the process of discussing and finalising a seat-sharing arrangement in various states to counter the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next year.
