Night curfew will be imposed in Delhi from 10 pm to 5 am starting tomorrow, the city government said today as the national capital reported 290 fresh cases of Covid – a 16 per cent jump from yesterday – and one related death in 24 hours.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) which devises COVID-19 management policies for the capital, has earlier directed district magistrates to ensure noNew Year gathering takes place in the national capital. The DDMA also directed the district magistrates (DMs) to identify potential COVID-19 superspreader areas ahead of Christmas and New Year.

According to Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)’s four-stage Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), a ‘yellow alert’ will be sounded if the positivity rates remains over 0.5 percent for more than two days.
Among the states that have resorted to night curfew are Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Guajarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. UP and Maharashtra were among the first few states that announced night curfew fearing spread of Omicron. Delhi and Karnataka announced fresh restrictions on Sunday.
