Delhi Murder Case: Aftab Poonawala, 28, who is charged with murdering and chopping off his live-in girlfriend Shraddha Walkar will remain in custody for more days. A local court today approved a narco-analysis test for lie detection on Poonawala. The couple vacationed in Himachal Pradesh’s Parvati Valley before relocating to Delhi in May. His police custody was also extended by five days, and officers now intend to take him there.
Aftab was presented in court through video call
He was presented by video link because authorities believed he could have been attacked by people, while lawyers protested outside the court and demanded that he be hanged.

He was detained for five days starting on Saturday and was being questioned by police since his arrest last Friday. Police stated that important evidence, including Shraddha Walkar’s cellphone and the knife he used to cut her body, still needs to be recovered, thus they requested an extension of custody.
Several lawyers were observed outside the courtroom before the hearing at 4 o’clock, yelling “hang him, hang him” in anticipation that he would be hauled in. Some shouted, “Hang the jihadi.”
Aftab is charged for killing his girlfriend
After living together in their hometown of Vasai, close to Mumbai, where they first met three years ago through the dating app Bumble, the couple came to Delhi just in the middle of May of this year. Four days after moving into their Mehrauli rental apartment, on May 18, Aftab allegedly strangled Shraddha. He then cut up her body, kept the pieces in a refrigerator, and dumped them in a jungle over the next 18 days, according to police.
Narco test will help further: Police
His confession, according to the police, helped them figure out the details, and they are currently gathering evidence to support the crime trail. As part of that, police are focused on a narco-analysis test, which includes injecting a particular drug into the suspect’s body to lessen their self-consciousness so they say the truth.
Bills that show he purchased a knife and refrigerator a day after the murder are listed as evidence, along with bones discovered in a jungle and a bloodstain in the kitchen. Call logs and phone location data, Shraddha’s bag from the flat, her father, and the testimonies of her friends and family are also included.
