Delhi NCR: Metro Guards thrash a man to death on suspicion of theft. One held

Delhi NCR: On Thursday, a man allegedly subjected to beatings by security personnel stationed at a metro construction site on GT Karnal Road in northwest Delhi passed away.

Suraj (26), an addict, was allegedly beaten before being left to die after being accused of stealing.

Police officials informed the media

A senior police officer was quoted by the media as stating that the patient’s doctor noted in his medical report that he had numerous bruises and abrasions on his body as well as a prolonged hematoma over the temporal region. One of the guards, Dayanand (29), who resides in Sonia Vihar, has been taken into custody by the police.

“During local enquiry, it was revealed that the man was a drug addict and on December 5 at around 11 pm, he had gone towards the site near Bada Bagh on GTK Road where metro work was going on.” according to the officer.

Charges imposed against guards

Usha Rangnani, the deputy commissioner of police for the northwest, said that a complaint has been filed at the Adarsh Nagar Police Station under sections 304 (Culpable Homicide Not Amounting to Murder) and 34 (Common Intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The matter is futher being investigated.
