Independence Day will be celebrated with pomp in Delhi on Sunday.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation after hoisting the tricolor on the ramparts of the Red Fort.In such a situation, Delhi Police has issued traffic advisory so that Delhiites do not face any problem.Police have directed people to avoid certain routes.Know here about the routes that will be closed on the occasion of Independence Day, along with which restrictions will remain in force.
The traffic around Red Fort will be closed for general public from 4 am to 10 am.Only authorized vehicles will be allowed in the area.Eight roads will remain closed for general public from 4 am to 10 am. These roads are Netaji Subhash Marg, SP Mukherjee Marg, Lothian Road, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road as well as Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg, Rajghat to ISBT, Ring Road and Outer ISBT to Indraprastha Flyover ring road.
Vehicles without parking label are allowed to be allowed to C-Hexagon at India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Subhash Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Ring Road from Nizamuddin Bridge to ISBT and Outer Ring Road. , from IP flyover bypass like ISBT via Salimgarhroutes should be avoided.Commuters heading towards the northern and southern parts of the capital will have to use an alternate route.
They will have to use the Nizamuddin Bridge to cross Aurobindo Marg-Safdarjung Road, Connaught Place-Minto Road and Nizamuddin Bridge and Yamuna-Pushta Road-GT Road.People traveling towards East-West Corridor can use the alternative routes of DND-NH24-Vikas Marg, Vikas Marg-DDU Marg and Boulevard Road-Baraf Khana.
The Geeta Colony bridge leading to Shantivan will remain closed.The entry of vehicles is restricted from Lower Ring Road towards ISBT Kashmere Gate towards Shantivan and from IP Flyover towards Rajghat.There will be a restriction on the movement of goods vehicles on Nizamuddin bridge and Wazirabad bridge.The ban will come into effect from midnight on August 14 and will be lifted at 11 am on Sunday.
Interstate buses will not be allowed to operate at Maharana Pratap and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT from midnight of 14th August to 11.00 pm of 15th August.During the same period, DTC buses will not ply on the Ring Road, the section between ISBT and NH-24/NH T-Point.Buses terminating at Red Fort, Jama Masjid and New Delhi Railway Station will be closed or diverted. Normal services will be restored after 10 am.However, alternative routes to railway stations, bus terminals and hospitals near the site of the Independence Day celebrations will remain open for use.
As part of additional security measures, Delhi Police has banned the use of para-gliders, hang gliders, para-motors, UAVs, remotely operated aircraft, hot air balloons, quadcopters etc till August 16. Apart from this, the use of cameras, binoculars, handbags, briefcases, transistors, cigarette lighters, tiffin boxes, water bottles, lunch boxes, umbrellas and remote control car keys will also be prohibited.
