Delhi Police Uncovers Plot to ‘Create Anarchy’ in Parliament Breach, Probe Points to Foreign Links

Parliament Attack

Parliament Attack: Delhi Police told a court on Friday that Lalit Jha, the alleged “mastermind” behind the Parliament security breach, and his co-accused intended to cause “anarchy” in the nation in order to force the government to comply with their demands. Sources claim that in order to replicate the incident that happened on the anniversary of the 2001 attack, the police will ask for permission from Parliament.

The Parliament Security Breach Unfolds

As a result of the significant security breach at Parliament involving smoke bombs and protests, five people have been taken into custody thus far. Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde were held outside the Parliament building, while Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D were taken into custody inside the Lok Sabha chamber.

Jha’s Acknowledgment in Court

Jha acknowledged that he had multiple meetings with the other accused in the case to plan the security breach at Parliament, Delhi Police informed the Patiala House court. Jha, a Bihar native who was employed as a teacher in Kolkata, was placed under seven days of police custody on Friday. At first, Jha was thinking of staging an outdoor protest, but she decided that would not have the same impact as infiltrating Parliament.

Accused’s Quest for Parliament Security Details

The accused, according to the police, looked up information on Google. Among the searches were instructional videos of Parliament security measures from the past and information on secure communication techniques. To avoid being discovered, the group only used the Signal app for communication. In order to ascertain whether the accused had any connections to terrorist groups or hostile nations, Jha will also be questioned. After fleeing to Rajasthan shortly after the security breach, he will be brought back to retrace his steps. The police claim that Jha burned the phones of those who were also involved in the breach and threw his own phone.

Escape to Rajasthan

“After the incident, he fled to Rajasthan where he stayed for two days and returned to Delhi last night,” a Delhi Police officer said, as quoted by news agency PTI. After the incident, sources claim that Jha fled to Nagaur in Rajasthan. They also mentioned that his stay there was arranged by cousins Kailash and Mahesh Kumawat. The two are not yet in custody. “We are planning to approach Parliament to seek permission for recreating the crime scene inside the House and outside the Parliament building. Lalit Jha, who was arrested on Thursday, revealed during the interrogation that he had thrown his phone near the Delhi-Jaipur border and destroyed the phones of the other accused,” the police officer added.

Jha’s Stated Motive

Although Jha cited “unemployment” as the reason for the security breach, the police believe there was a larger conspiracy that may have received funding from abroad. The shoe designer who created the shoes that covered the smoke canisters the accused used inside the Parliament building is also wanted by the police. The CCTV footage captured by Parliament is presently being examined pixel by pixel, and data from nearby mobile phones is being gathered to identify potential leads for the investigation. In the event that the primary plan fell through, the police also suspect a “Plan B.”

Anarchy Plot Unveiled in Court

“Jha disclosed that they wanted to create anarchy in the country so that they could compel the government to meet their demands. He took the phones (of other accused) to hide them and to destroy evidence as part of the larger conspiracy. He disclosed that he threw his phone away on his way from Jaipur to Delhi,” the police told Patiala House court.

Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D’s Planned Operation

According to the FIR’s details, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D carefully planned their operation, smuggling smoke canisters into the Lok Sabha chamber while wearing specially made shoes. These specially designed shoes had thick rubber soles with concealed cavities to conceal the contraband.

Manipur Violence Slogans and Fist Image

Additionally, the two carried flyers with slogans regarding the violence in Manipur and an image of a fist against the national flag. Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi simultaneously yelled “tanashahi nahi chalegi” and sprayed coloured gas outside the building from canisters. Charges against all four are being brought under the strict UAPA anti-terror law.
