Delhi: Road-Rage ! Another hit-and-run case takes IIT Delhi’s student life, injures another; Police start investigation

Delhi: In a car accident on Tuesday night near IIT Delhi, a 30-year-old research student died while his friend was left injured. Ashraf Nawaz Khan (30) and Ankur Shukla (29), both PhD students at IIT Delhi, were returning from a restaurant at SDA market around the time of the accident, which happened at about 11:15 p.m. They were crossing the street at Gate Number 1 when a vehicle came crashing into them.

One student passed away while enroute to hospital

The impact wounded both men, who were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Khan passed away while receiving care at Safdarjung Medical Center. Shukla has been hospitalised to Max Hospital in Saket with a shattered leg.

Some distance from the scene of the collision, the car was discovered damaged and abandoned. The car’s driver has been located, and more investigation is being conducted. The cops stated that, “Both, deceased Ashraf Nawaz Khan and injured Ankur Shukla, are PhD students at IIT. Car has been found abandoned at a distance from accident site and driver has been identified.”

Both IIT Delhi students were hit while crossing road

In an official statement, police further stated, ” “Both of them went to a restaurant in SDA market opposite IIT Delhi and were crossing the road after dinner. One car which was coming from the Nehru Place side hit both of them while crossing the road.”
