Republic Day 2024: Due to parade rehearsals this week, the Delhi Police issued an alert on Monday regarding four days of traffic restrictions near the India Gate in central Delhi, ahead of the Republic Day celebrations. Rehearsals for the Republic Day parade will take place on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday along Kartavya Path, starting from Vijay Chowk and ending at India Gate.
Traffic Restrictions at Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg Crossing
The advisory stated that there will be traffic restrictions at Kartavya Path-Rafi Marg Crossing, Kartavya Path-Janpath Crossing, Kartavya Path-Mansingh Road Crossing, and Kartavya Path-C Hexagon from 10.15 am to 12.30 pm on these dates in order to facilitate the parade’s uninterrupted movement. Additionally, it stated that traffic will be rerouted since Kartavya Path, which runs from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, will stay blocked to vehicles.
Drivers Urged to Follow Directives During Republic Day Parade Rehearsals
It is anticipated that traffic will be heavy on these roads due to the rehearsals, so drivers are advised to heed the directives of traffic police officers. In order to minimise inconvenience, people have also been asked to arrange their travel ahead of time.
According to the advise, drivers approaching Vinay Marg, Shanti Path from New Delhi and beyond should take Sardar Patel Marg – Mother Teresa Crescent, the RML – Baba Kharak Singh Marg roundabout, or Park Street – Mandir Marg, and continue on to North Delhi/New Delhi. Due to Republic Day parade preparations, the police had also issued a caution on Friday regarding four days of traffic restrictions near India Gate in central Delhi.
