Delhi Weather: Safdarjung in Delhi registered a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department reported, during a cold wave that was prevalent in portions of northern India. According to the IMD, the minimum temperature in Delhi’s Aya Nagar was 2.6 degrees Celsius, while Lodhi Road’s was 2.8 degrees Celsius, and Palam’s was 5.2 degrees Celsius.

Several train and flights delayed

The visibility was reduced on Sunday morning as a heavy layer of fog shrouded Delhi and the surrounding suburbs. Severe cold and fog conditions are still present in the nation’s capital and the adjacent regions.

According to a Delhi airport official, some 20 planes from Indira Gandhi International Airport were delayed on Sunday as a result of hazy conditions and other operational problems. Over 480 trains were delayed or cancelled on Sunday, according to the reports.

According to the IMD, a cold wave and frigid days will persist throughout northwest India for the next two days. The meteorological service predicts that after two days starting on Tuesday, minimum temperatures in several areas of the plains of Northwest India would rise by roughly 2 degrees Celsius. Over east India, Tuesday is the most likely day with no notable change in minimum temperatures and the following three days with an increase of roughly 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Dense fog to continue gripping the country

According to the meteorological service, a minimum temperature drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is quite probable throughout Madhya Pradesh over the next two days till Monday, with no notable change expected over the next three days until Thursday.

According to the weather department, very ground frost conditions will prevail on January 8 and 9 in a few isolated locations of north Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Very Dense Fog is Very Likely Over Uttarakhand, North Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Tripura During the Next Three Days Until Tuesday.
