Delhi Weather Update: The national capital of Delhi continued to see bone-chillingly low temperatures, with the mercury falling to 7.4 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, however, the city was once more blanketed in thick fog, which caused at least 26 trains to run late.
Record-Low Tuesday Temperatures
It is said that early on Tuesday, the temperature in the Delhi Ridge area was the lowest of the year. In order to stay warm in this bitterly cold winter, people have been seen sitting by bonfires throughout the national capital and its surrounding areas. In the meantime, security and armed defence personnel kept up their early-morning drills in preparation for the Republic Day parade.
Fog Blanket Across States
The central regions of Uttar Pradesh, south Assam, Tripura, north and west Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and adjoining east and west Rajasthan were all covered in moderate to dense fog, according to the India Meteorological Department. At least 26 trains are running late as they approach Delhi because of the fog. People in the nation’s capital had to battle a cold wave and heavy fog as the temperature dropped even lower to 7.4 degrees Celsius.
Delhi Ridge Records Coldest Temperature on Tuesday
According to reports, Tuesday’s temperature in the Delhi Ridge area was the lowest of the season. The nation’s capital was still engulfed in layers of fog, which also interfered with train traffic, particularly that which was travelling through or near Delhi. The central regions of Uttar Pradesh, south Assam, Tripura, north and north Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh bordering east Rajasthan, and Punjab were all covered in moderate to dense fog, according to the IMD.
Late-Evening Fog Reduces Visibility to 25 Meters in Bareilly, UP
In certain places, the late-evening fog cover on Tuesday night significantly reduced visibility; the lowest visibility was recorded at 25 metres in Bareilly, UP. Owing to the cold wave, the administrations of Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh ordered that schools for students up to class 8 be closed until January 6.
