Delhi: The Crime Branch has discovered indications pointing to a similar murder in East Delhi as more regarding the gruesome murder of Shraddha Walkar continue to emerge. On Monday, a woman and her son were detained on suspicion of killing her husband, dismembering the body, keeping the pieces in the refrigerator, and then disposing of the fragments.
Anjan Das, a resident of Pandav Nagar in the east of the city, is said to have been killed and dismembered. Before the mom and her son dumped the pieces in the neighbourhood, they were kept in a refrigerator.

According to accounts, the mother-son team painted the house after storing the body parts in the refrigerator to eliminate the offensive odour.
Amit Goel, DCP Crime said, “Poonam married Anjan Das in 2017 after her husband Kallu passed away in 2016. Kallu was Deepak’s father. Deceased Anjan was married in Bihar too and had eight children there. He wasn’t earning and often use to fight.”
He continued, “The mother-son made deceased Anjan drink liquor and mixed sleeping pills in it. Then they slit his throat and left the body in the home for a day for the blood to drain out completely. Then they chopped the body into 10 pieces and six pieces have been recovered.”
In a case that eerily mirrors the murder of Shraddha Walkar, Das was allegedly killed by Poonam and her son Deepak. Aaftab Ameen Poonawala murdered his live-in spouse Shraddha in may, then dispersed the 35 pieces of her body over Mehrauli forest after storing them in a 300-liter refrigerator.
In June, authorities discovered a decapitated head and hands in the Trilokpuri neighbourhood of east Delhi, but they were unable to identify the victim. A few months later, when the police were attempting to retrieve Shraddha’s body pieces, an investigation was started. The body pieces discovered in a degraded form in June have now been identified as belonging to Anjan Das.

Why did Anjan Das get killed?
Police claim that Anjan Das was slain by Poonam and her son Deepak due to an extramarital relationship. They said that the victim was first given sleeping medication and then killed.
The wife and her son allegedly sliced up the man’s body, kept the fragments in a refrigerator, and dispersed the pieces throughout Pandav Nagar and the surrounding districts. Six pieces have been found by the police, but the torso is still missing, according to sources.
The body was dismembered with the aid of a knife and other cutting tools. According to Delhi Police sources, both were kept in the freezer. The deadly object has been found, and investigators are looking for the murderer’s knife.
According to investigators, they have seen Deepak strolling with a bag in his hand late at night on one of his trips to dispose of the parts on CCTV.
On June 5, the dismembered leg was discovered. The following day, a case was filed, and an investigation was started to find the victim. The decapitated head was discovered in the same neighbourhood the following day. Later, a DNA test made sure that Anjan Das had been killed.
