Delhi’s New Minimum Wage Revolution Announced by CM Atishi, Check

Chief Minister of Delhi Atishi declares a large rise in the minimum wage, putting it at Rs 18,066 for unskilled laborers, Rs 19,929 for semi-trained laborers, and Rs 21,917 for skilled laborers.

CM Atishi

CM Atishi , the chief minister of Delhi, has announced a significant rise in minimum wages for the benefit of workers. She announced the rates in a press statement, which mentioned that for untrained workers, the amount is ₹18,000, while semi-trained workers will get ₹19,000 and trained workers ₹21,000. While talking about the new rate, Mukesh Ahlawat said this is the highest minimum wage in the country.

New Wage Structure for Workers in Delhi

CM Atishi said that the government had vowed to provide a dignified standard of living for the workers. “Yesterday, our Labour Minister Mukesh Ahlawat decided that untrained workers will be given ₹18,066, semi-trained workers will be given ₹19,029 and trained workers will be given ₹21,017,” she said. “Minimum wages in Delhi government are the highest. The Kejriwal government is committed to the fact that people should live with dignity.”

She attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in her speech, labeling it “anti-poor, anti-labourer, and anti-farmer.” She pointed out how BJP has not made even a little effort to end the troubles the farmers are facing and how they have deployed the security forces on the borders of Delhi and Haryana to stop farmers from protesting in the capital. “They don’t work that hard to bar the intruders coming from Pakistan,” she said.

Strengthening Labor Rights Amidst Political Tensions

Atishi also echoed the farmer’s distress, discussing the protesters against the farm laws. “More than 700 farmers lost their lives, but the BJP or PM Modi did not pay any heed,” she further lamented. Such wage hike declarations indeed seem to be apt ways of boosting workers but also portray the Delhi government as the bastion of labor rights in otherwise tensed up political climate.
