Chhath Mahaparv has started from today, but the pictures related to this worship from Delhi are heart-wrenching. The Yamuna has collected poisonous froth, in the midst of this devotees were seen taking a bath here, although due to Corona, DDMA has not allowed Chhath Puja on the banks of river Yamuna. News agency ANI has shared a video related to this, in which it is written that devotees bathing amidst poisonous foam floating in Yamuna river. This place is being told near Kalindi Kunj. According to reports, Delhi’s air has become polluted due to stubble burning by neighboring states and fireworks on Diwali. Ammonia level has also increased in Yamuna.
Devotees coming here are expressing their disappointment on such condition of Yamuna river. Kalpana, who came here to offer prayers, said that there is a importance of taking a dip in the river in Chhath Puja. That’s why I have come here, but the water is very dirty. This is causing us a lot of trouble. It can also cause diseases, but we are helpless. Cleanliness of water and ghats are much better in Bihar. The Delhi government should ensure that the ghats are cleaned.

Another devotee Sushma said that the water is very dirty, but what can we do. We have to take a bath. I am from Banka in Bihar. The water in Sultanganj is really good. But we had to come here because our family lives here. Local resident Shakeel told that this foam has been there for about a month. I am a diver and have been living here for the last 25 years. People take bath with soap and shampoo and wash their clothes. The water from the drains of the houses is coming here. This leads to the formation of foam. From one month a foam is increasing continuously.
Chhath Puja is dedicated to the Sun God and is mainly celebrated by the people of the border areas of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. In this four-day festival, a dip is taken in rivers and ponds, offerings are made to the sun. This year Chhath Puja started today that is from 8th November with a bathing trench and will end with offering Arghya to the rising sun on 11th November.
