Reports of an Indian plane crash in Badakhshan, Afghanistan, circulated, with the Taliban confirming the incident. However, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) swiftly dismissed these claims, offering a crucial update on the situation. Here’s an overview of the unfolding events.

Taliban Reports Crash in Badakhshan

On Saturday, an Indian plane en route to Moscow crashed in Badakhshan, as reported by Afghanistan media citing Taliban sources. The incident occurred in the Wakhan region, with the Taliban’s information and culture head in Badakhshan detailing the crash location as Topkhaneh Mountain, covering districts Karan, Manjan, and Zibak.

DGCA’s Swift Response

In response to the reports, the DGCA promptly issued a statement refuting claims of the crashed plane being Indian. The official clarification revealed that the aircraft involved was a Moroccan registered DF 10, not of Indian origin.

Seperate Plan Crash in Chile

Separately, tragedy struck in Chile as a firefighter plane engaged in battling a blaze near Panguilemo Airport crashed, resulting in the death of Spanish pilot Fernando Solans Robles. The incident occurred during fire control operations, causing injuries to individuals in a nearby car. The Ministry of Agriculture in Chile officially confirmed the pilot’s demise.

Fernando Solans Robles, a seasoned pilot from Valencia, Spain, held a prominent position and was known for his expertise. CONAF, where he worked for the National Forestry Corporation, is actively collaborating with authorities to investigate the crash and determine its cause.
