Vijay Mohite, the village sarpanch, proposed the concept, and reports indicate that locals have been diligently and obediently contributing to the digital detox. Every day at 7 o’clock, a siren sounds to alert the villagers to take up books and texts to read instead of turning on their electronic devices.

“At initially, I had suggested a 1.5 hour window. At first, there was hesitation since individuals weren’t sure if they could avoid using their phones and TVs. We held a women’s gramme sabha on Independence Day and agreed to buy a siren,” he stated.
