Disha Ravi: 3 days judicial custody

Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Friday sent 22-year-old environmental activist Disha Ravi arrested in a toolkit case to three days in judicial custody. The Delhi Police had sought judicial custody from the court. Disha’s term of police custody was coming to an end on Friday, after which she was presented by the Delhi Police in Patiala House Court on Friday. On the appeal of the police, the Delhi court has sent Disha to judicial custody for three days.

In Patiala House Court, Delhi Police’s lawyer Irfan Ahmed demanded three days of judicial custody, which was accepted. Ahmed said that during the questioning in police custody, Disha has been reluctant to answer questions. Also, the police told the court that she wanted to interrogate Disha in front of Shantanu and Nikita.

Disha Ravi was arrested from Bengaluru on February 13 for sharing and editing toolkits on social media related to farmers’ protests.

Metropolitan Magistrate presented before Akash Jain, from where he was sent to jail. Police said that Ravi’s detention is not required at the moment and further investigation may be required of Ravi after co-accused Shantanu Mukul and Nikita Jacob are involved in the investigation. The police said that during interrogation in custody, Ravi continued to be sarcastic and tried to blame the co-accused.
