Chennai: At the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital this morning, a 17-year-old football player who had lost her right leg as a result of a botched surgery passed away. As per the sources, Priya, who was in the intensive care unit at RGGGH, suffered from kidney and heart issues before succumbing to multiple organ failures at 7:15 a.m. today.

Priya had problem in her knee
Priya recently received treatment at the Government Peripheral Hospital in Periyar Nagar for a torn ligament in her knee. The surgeons there operated on her, and afterward Priya experienced difficulties and had a swollen leg. R Vijay, Priya’s brother, reported that she was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai.
One of the two doctors was a senior resident, and the other was an assistant professor, according to Dr. R. Shanthimalar, director of medical education (full additional charge).
Doctors suspended, Brother offered a government job
Health Minister Ma Subramanian visited the hospital and spoke with Priya’s family after the girl passed away. According to the minister, departmental action would be taken in addition to the suspension of the two doctors. Additional legal action will be taken after filing a police report. One of her three brothers would get a government job by, and he added that the family will receive a compensation of Rs. 10 lakh.
A high-end prosthetic limb and physiotherapy would be provided by the government to assist with her rehabilitation, the Minister had stated on Monday, and a request for a government employment will be taken into consideration.
